During the ongoing series between Australia A and India A in India, a health incident involving Australian cricketers has come to light. Several players experienced sudden illnesses, marked by severe stomach pain and signs of infection, leading to the hospitalization of some players, including Henry Thornton. The BCCI, represented by Vice President Rajeev Shukla, has responded to the situation.
The illnesses are believed to be connected to the food provided at the team’s hotel. Henry Thornton received treatment for two days and has since been reported to be well. Other players who fell ill were examined in hospital and later discharged. The Landmark Hotel in Kanpur, where the Australian team is staying, is under scrutiny, and the food department has obtained food samples from the hotel to determine the cause of the illness.
Rajeev Shukla stated that the Landmark Hotel is known for its quality and that if the food was the problem, other players would also have been ill, which wasn’t the case. The hotel management is suggesting a possible link between the illness and the changing weather conditions, rather than the food. The series between the teams is currently tied at 1-1 in the ODI format, and India A won the previous series in the Test format 1-0.
