Following India’s triumph against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, a controversy arose concerning the trophy presentation. The event, which took place at the Dubai International Stadium, saw India defeat Pakistan by five wickets. However, the presentation ceremony was disrupted when Suryakumar Yadav and his team refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the ACC and the PCB. This led to an hour-long impasse, with Naqvi reportedly unwilling to give the trophy to India. While individual awards were distributed, the trophy itself was not officially handed over. Naqvi later left the ground with the trophy, which is currently housed at the ACC headquarters. Harbhajan Singh, commenting on the situation, criticized Naqvi’s actions, describing them as inconsequential. He asserted that Naqvi’s opinion on whether or not India should receive the trophy was irrelevant, emphasizing that India had won the tournament and would eventually be awarded the trophy regardless.
