The ambitious Malayalam film ‘The Goat Life’, starring and produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran, has concluded its theatrical run after a staggering 16 years from its initial commitment. Directed by Blessy, the movie, a desert survival adventure, faced a disappointing outcome at the box office, failing to meet expectations.
Sukumaran himself confirmed the extensive timeline, stating he agreed to the project in 2008-2009. This period represents a significant portion of his career, with the film acting as a consistent presence throughout various phases of his professional life. The sheer dedication required to sustain a project for over a decade is immense.
Despite its box office performance, ‘The Goat Life’ is now available for streaming on Netflix. The film has received a positive reception on IMDb, scoring a 7.1 rating. This suggests that while the movie struggled to draw crowds to cinemas, it may find a more receptive audience in the OTT space.
Financial reports place the worldwide collection at around Rs 157.35 crore. The domestic collection in India reached approximately Rs 85.01 crore, with an additional Rs 59.5 crore earned internationally. These figures underscore the film’s box office disappointment.
Prithviraj Sukumaran remains active in cinema, with his recent role in ‘Sarzameen’ and his forthcoming appearance in ‘Salaar 2’. His directorial debut, ‘Lucifer’, was a significant box office hit.
