Jharkhand’s political landscape is abuzz with allegations of widespread illegal stone mining, as highlighted in a letter from BJP State President Babulal Marandi to Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Marandi has specifically targeted stone mafia operator Satyanath Sah in the Borio area of Sahibganj, accusing him of rampant illegal quarrying. According to the letter, Sah’s mining operations have stretched far beyond his sanctioned four-acre lease, exploiting an estimated 20 acres. Investigations ordered by the local administration have seemingly confirmed the illegal nature of these activities. Marandi has calculated a significant revenue loss for the state, estimated at ₹200 crore, due to these unlawful extractions. The opposition leader is demanding swift and severe punitive measures against Sah and the full recovery of the government’s lost revenue. He also stressed the importance of immediate intervention to stop the illegal mining and ensure the safety of the individual who reported the matter.
