In a concerning development, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has rolled out an online course, ‘Tufat al-Muminat’, to expand its network and recruit women into its ranks. The training, commencing November 8, will be led by family members of key JeM figures, including Masood Azhar’s sisters, Sadiya Azhar and Samaira Azhar. They will conduct daily sessions focusing on the group’s interpretation of ‘jihad’, religion, and Islamic principles to indoctrinate recruits. This strategic move by JeM to establish a dedicated women’s brigade, ‘Jamat ul-Muminat’, signifies an attempt to broaden its operational scope and potentially utilize female cadres for specialized tasks, including suicide attacks, following models seen in other extremist organizations. The group is also reportedly collecting enrollment fees, highlighting its active fundraising activities.
