Donald Trump has once again claimed that India will halt its oil imports from Russia by the end of the year, citing a recent conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The former U.S. President described his discussion with PM Modi as “absolutely great.” This statement revisits Trump’s prior assertion that Prime Minister Modi had promised him over a phone call that India would cease purchasing Russian oil, a claim that was later contradicted by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. Trump stated, “India has told me that they are going to stop buying oil from Russia by the end of the year; I spoke to PM Modi yesterday and they have been absolutely great.” Trump also maintained his stance on previously mediating between India and Pakistan, asserting that tariffs were the crucial factor in bringing about a cessation of conflict between the two neighboring countries.
