BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has labeled the molestation of two Australian women cricketers in Indore as a ‘deeply regrettable and isolated incident.’ The cricketers were allegedly subjected to molestation by a motorcyclist while on their way to a cafe. Saikia conveyed deep regret over the unfortunate event, emphasizing that India is known for its hospitable nature and that such behavior is not reflective of the country. He praised the Madhya Pradesh Police for their prompt arrest of the accused, Aqeel Khan, and expressed confidence in the judicial process to deliver justice. The BCCI is committed to a zero-tolerance approach to such offenses and will be reinforcing security protocols to prevent future occurrences. The incident has led to increased security for the Australian team during the Women’s ODI World Cup, highlighting concerns for the safety of female athletes.
