As Agastya Nanda prepares for his grand entry into Bollywood with ‘Ikkis,’ audiences are also getting introduced to his co-star, Simar Bhatia. Bhatia will portray the love interest of Nanda’s character in the film, and she brings an interesting connection to the industry – she is Akshay Kumar’s niece.
Simar Bhatia is the daughter of Alka Bhatia, who is Akshay Kumar’s sister, and her first spouse, Vaibhav Kapoor. Alka later married Surendra Hiranandani. Simar, however, has chosen a less public path, pursuing her studies extensively in the United States, where she cultivated a strong interest in various creative fields.
The recent release of the ‘Ikkis’ trailer prompted a heartfelt social media message from Akshay Kumar. He shared his overwhelming pride in Simar’s journey, from informal performances at home to her significant debut in ‘Ikkis.’ He also commended Agastya Nanda’s captivating presence on screen.
Simar replied affectionately to Akshay’s post, calling herself his ‘little Simi’ and expressing her deep gratitude. Twinkle Khanna, a celebrated author and Akshay’s wife, also extended her congratulations, noting Simar’s ‘refreshingly natural’ performance and calling her a ‘talented little one.’ Simar humbly acknowledged the compliment, feeling blessed by the praise from such a respected writer.
The film ‘Ikkis’ is a biographical war drama based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest Indian soldier to receive the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the Battle of Basantar. Simar Bhatia’s role is central to the narrative alongside Agastya Nanda. The film’s cast also features veteran actor Dharmendra, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Deepak Dobriyal. ‘Ikkis’ is slated for release in December 2025.
