
Chhattisgarh gets its grand and modern assembly building in its Silver Jubilee year
A confluence of tradition and modernity, the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building
Raipur. November 1, 2025. With the dedication of the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building in Naya Raipur by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, the 25-year wait for the Assembly’s own building has ended. The state has received its grand and modern assembly building on the occasion of Rajyotsav during the Silver Jubilee year of state formation. Addressing the dedication ceremony held in the new assembly complex under the chief guest presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that this is a moment of great pride for all of us. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always had deep faith in democratic traditions. Decisions for the state’s prosperity and well-being will now be made in this building. He expressed hope that the aspirations and expectations of the public will be fulfilled through meaningful discussions on bills and issues related to the state’s interests here. This new building will further strengthen the traditions of the Chhattisgarh Assembly and the sentiments of democracy, and enhance their glory.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, in his address at the event, said that today is a golden day for Chhattisgarh, the maternal home of Lord Rama and the land of Mata Kaushalya. The Chhattisgarh Assembly has had a glorious history for the past 25 years. The state government has been working to fulfill Modi’s guarantee for the last 21-22 months. He said that Chhattisgarh was created by Atal ji, and Modi ji is working to adorn it.
Addressing the dedication ceremony, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said that today is a historic and proud moment for the state. Today, this building, land, and platform are witnessing an unprecedented time. Today’s date will be inscribed in golden letters in the history of Chhattisgarh. Exactly 25 years ago today, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee created the state, and today it is completing its journey from construction to legislation. He informed that the new assembly building is made of 80 percent indigenous material. The furniture and doors in the house are made of Bastar teak wood, and the ceiling features artistry of paddy ears. Chhattisgarh has been incorporated here. Governor Shri Ramesh Deka, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant, and MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal also attended the assembly building dedication ceremony.

A new chapter was added to the history of Chhattisgarh on this day, November 1. After the formation of the state in the year 2000, the Chhattisgarh Assembly, which started in Raipur’s Rajkumar College, has received its grand, modern, and fully equipped permanent building in its Silver Jubilee year after 25 years. This building is not just a beautiful structure, but also a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s rich culture, tradition, and faith.
*Glimpse of agrarian culture and Bastar’s woodcraft*
The identity of Chhattisgarh, known as the ‘Bowl of Rice’, has been beautifully woven into the architecture of this building. The ceiling of the Assembly hall features carved paddy ears and leaves, symbolizing the state’s agrarian culture. Most of the doors and furniture in the building have been crafted by traditional wood artisans from Bastar. Thus, the new assembly building has become a vibrant confluence of modernity and tradition.
*State-of-the-art building for future needs*
The new assembly building has been designed keeping in mind the current and future needs. It is a fully equipped and furnished building, whose house can be expanded to accommodate up to 200 members. The inclusion of necessary technical facilities for paperless assembly operations will also develop this building into a ‘Smart Assembly’.
*Campus spread over 51 acres built at a cost of 324 crore*
This campus, spread over a total of 51 acres, has been constructed at a cost of 324 crore rupees. The building is divided into three main parts—Wing-A, Wing-B, and Wing-C. Wing-A houses the Assembly Secretariat, Wing-B houses the House, Central Hall, Chief Minister’s and Speaker’s offices, and Wing-C houses the Ministers’ offices.
*Environment-friendly building constructed with green technology*
This building is entirely environment-friendly and constructed with green building technology. A solar plant has been installed in the complex, and two lakes are also being constructed for rainwater harvesting. Additionally, all environmental protection standards have been followed in the building.
*500-seater auditorium and 200-seater central hall*
The assembly building features a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 spectators and a 200-seater central hall. The architecture of the building is an excellent blend of modern and traditional styles.
*Symbol of the aspirations of three crore people*
Adorned with Chhattisgarh’s culture and crafts, this new assembly building will realize the hopes, aspirations, and self-pride of the three crore citizens of the state.
