Palamu police have scored a major victory against liquor smuggling with the seizure of over 2,000 bottles of illegal country liquor. The operation took place near Kajrat Nawadih railway station in the Hussainabad police station limits. Intelligence gathered late on Monday night indicated that a large quantity of illicit alcohol was being hidden in bushes. Prompt action was taken, leading to the formation of a raiding party comprising members of the Hussainabad police and the RPF Kajrat Nawadih. The team, led by Dangwar OP in-charge Sonu Kumar Gupta, unearthed 23 sacks filled with ‘Tanaka’ and ‘Chabili’ brand liquor. The total recovery comprised 92 cases, translating to approximately 2,000 bottles. A motorcycle, suspected to be used for transporting the illegal goods, was also seized. The alleged owner of the liquor, Rajan Kumar Singh, was apprehended from his residence in Kajrat Nawadih and has been presented before the court. A case has been registered, and the investigation into the wider smuggling network is ongoing. This bust is a testament to the diligent work of the Palamu police in tackling organized crime.
