Businessmen get major relief under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and directions of Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary
Raipur, November 6, 2025/ Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and directions of Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary, the State GST Department and Treasury Department have implemented the facility of payment through Credit Card, Debit Card, and UPI for GST returns across the entire state in the interest of businessmen. The business community, Chamber of Commerce, and various trade organizations had been continuously demanding this facility since the initial period of GST implementation.
It is noteworthy that the business community had stated that if modern digital mediums like UPI and card payments were linked to the GST portal, tax payments in the state could become more convenient and transparent. Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary, taking these demands seriously, had directed both departments to work jointly to implement this quickly with the aim of facilitating taxpayers and promoting digital payments, as a result of which this facility is now effective.
Until now, taxpayers only had the options of net banking and Over the Counter (OTC) payments. This often caused significant difficulties for small traders and new taxpayers. Payment was not possible due to many banks not being linked to the GST portal, while problems like payment failure due to technical reasons, bank server downtime, or payment failure on the last date were also common. In such cases, many taxpayers had to depend on others for payment, resulting in a loss of both time and energy.
Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary said, “The state government is continuously working to provide maximum convenience to taxpayers. This new facility for GST payment through Credit Card, Debit Card, and UPI has brought great relief to taxpayers. This will make the payment process more simple, fast, and transparent, and small traders will especially benefit.”
He also stated that this initiative is part of the state government’s commitment to advancing Ease of Doing Business and Digital Governance.
This facility is now available on the GST portal (www.gst.gov.in). Taxpayers can log in to the portal and directly pay taxes using Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI apps. This system is completely secure and will make GST payments more convenient and user-friendly.
This new initiative is being considered a significant step towards promoting digital payments and establishing a transparent tax system in the state. This will increase efficiency in both departmental functioning and tax collection, and Chhattisgarh will further strengthen its position among the leading states in digital tax administration in the country.
“The goal of the Chhattisgarh government is to make governance processes simple, accessible, and transparent for every citizen and trader. The expansion of digital facilities like Credit Card, Debit Card, and UPI for GST payment in the interest of taxpayers is an important step in this direction. This system of payment through digital means will not only provide convenience and speed to traders but also strengthen transparency and trust in the state’s economy. We want taxpayers to not face any kind of technical or procedural difficulties and to fulfill their tax obligations without any hindrance. This initiative will prove to be a milestone in establishing Chhattisgarh among the leading states on the standards of Digital India and Ease of Doing Business.” – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai
