Chhattisgarh’s tax administration has taken a major leap forward by integrating credit card, debit card, and UPI payment methods into its GST return filing system. This development is a direct result of extensive consultations and advocacy from business groups who had long pointed out the inefficiencies of the exclusive net banking and over-the-counter payment options.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance Minister OP Choudhary have spearheaded this reform, aiming to make tax compliance quicker, more transparent, and significantly easier for all taxpayers across the state. The previous system often led to technical glitches and delayed submissions, impacting business operations.
The newly introduced digital payment facilities are available on the official GST portal (www.gst.gov.in). The government emphasizes that this system is designed with advanced security protocols to ensure the integrity of every transaction. This reform is expected to bolster the state’s ‘ease of doing business’ rankings, reduce administrative friction, and contribute to more effective revenue management and digital advancement in tax collection.
