A daylight robbery turned violent in Ranchi’s Nagdi area when a scooter-riding young woman, Manisha Tirkey, was shot in the back near the Adchoro railway crossing on Saturday night. The victim, who works at a local pharmacy, sustained critical injuries and is undergoing medical care at RIMS. The attack occurred as she was returning home after completing her shift.
According to her brother, Bablu Tirkey, Manisha was riding her scooter with a friend and had just dropped her off before the incident. A motorcycle-borne assailant then approached her from behind and fired a shot before escaping. The family expressed shock, noting that Manisha’s marriage was recently finalized in Lodhma. While returning from a family visit, they learned of the horrific attack. Police are treating this as a serious crime and are investigating all possible leads. Rural SP Praveen Pushkar confirmed the shooting and indicated that the perpetrators, believed to be three individuals on motorcycles, are being sought. The motive behind the shooting is currently unknown.
