The national capital is grappling with severe traffic congestion following a recent car blast near the Red Fort Metro Station. In response, the Delhi Traffic Police have put in place crucial traffic management measures, including diversions and restrictions, to mitigate further disruption.
Netaji Subhash Marg, a key arterial road, will experience restricted movement on both its main lanes and service roads between Chatta Rail Cut and Subhash Marg Cut. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes from 6:00 AM to allow authorities to conduct their investigation at the blast scene. The area remains secured as forensic teams meticulously examine the debris, which included significant vehicle components like the steering wheel, found scattered over a wide radius.
Investigators have named Dr. Mohammad Umar as the main suspect. He is believed to be a terrorist linked to the Faridabad module and was previously at large. Reports suggest Umar and two accomplices may have acted hastily following arrests in Faridabad. The blast was caused by a powerful ANFO explosive. Surveillance footage indicates the Hyundai i20 vehicle was parked strategically near the Sunehri Masjid for approximately three hours before its detonation at the Subhash Marg traffic light.
