A back injury has forced Zimbabwe’s leading fast bowler, Blessing Muzarabani, to withdraw from the forthcoming T20I tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The national cricket board has announced Newman Nyamhuri as his replacement.
The exciting tri-series is set to take place in Lahore, starting November 17 and concluding with the final on November 29. The absence of Muzarabani, a vital member of Zimbabwe’s bowling attack, presents a significant challenge for the team.
Newman Nyamhuri, a 19-year-old, is poised to make his T20I debut. He has previously appeared in four Tests and four ODIs for Zimbabwe, capturing six wickets in the longer format and three in ODIs. In his limited exposure to domestic T20 cricket, he has claimed five wickets across four games, maintaining an economical bowling rate.
Nyamhuri’s call-up is the only personnel change from the squad that recently suffered a whitewash against Afghanistan in a T20I series. Muzarabani played in the first T20I against Afghanistan, securing two wickets, but was subsequently sidelined due to his injury concerns.
