In a significant operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, six Naxalites were eliminated during a fierce gunfight with security forces. The encounter began around 10 AM in the Indravati National Park area, as a joint team of security personnel was engaged in an anti-Naxal operation following intelligence on the presence of top Maoist leaders. Authorities confirmed the killings.
The operation saw the participation of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Bijapur and Dantewada, along with the Special Task Force (STF). The intense exchange of gunfire continued for an extended period. Post-encounter, a thorough search of the site uncovered the bodies of six Maoists, who were armed with automatic weapons such as an INSAS rifle, sten guns, and a .303 rifle, as well as explosives.
To consolidate the gains and prevent the escape of other cadres, additional units including the DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and CAF were dispatched to secure the perimeter. The state leadership hailed the operation as a critical milestone in the fight against Naxalism, underscoring their commitment to eradicating the movement and achieving lasting peace in the region.
