Actress Mahima Chaudhary has become an advocate for early breast cancer detection, recounting her personal battle with the disease that began in 2022. At the recent Young Women Breast Cancer Conference 2025, she candidly discussed how her cancer was discovered purely by coincidence during a general health check-up.
Chaudhary revealed that she experienced ‘no symptoms’ and had ‘no clue’ about her condition. This experience powerfully illustrates her point that early breast cancer often remains undetected without proper diagnostic tests. ‘It can only be detected early through tests,’ she firmly stated, advocating for the necessity of regular medical check-ups. She explained that consistent annual screenings are the most effective way to catch breast cancer in its nascent stages, allowing for timely and more successful treatment.
Reflecting on the progress in cancer care in India, Chaudhary noted substantial advancements since her diagnosis. She pointed to the considerable decrease in the prices of generic cancer drugs and improved partnerships with pharmaceutical companies. The increasing public discourse and awareness around cancer have also been a source of motivation, inspiring her by the resilience of others fighting the illness.
