The fragile peace has been shattered as Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and Lebanon have led to 25 fatalities and 77 injuries. Wednesday’s operations focused on Gaza City and Khan Younis, hitting heavily populated zones and adding to the grim casualty count. Simultaneously, a Palestinian refugee camp, Ain al-Hilweh in southern Lebanon, was targeted by Israeli aircraft, as confirmed by local health authorities. This widening of the conflict underscores the pervasive instability and raises fears of a larger regional conflict. The effectiveness of a US-brokered ceasefire is now in serious doubt, with numerous alleged violations reported. Figures indicate hundreds of strikes and significant loss of life in Gaza since the ceasefire began, suggesting it has failed to halt hostilities. Despite claims of responding to militant provocations, the renewed large-scale attacks, which Israel reportedly briefed the United States on, highlight the precarious nature of the truce and the continued danger faced by civilians in the affected regions.
