Simdega’s Deputy Commissioner, Kanchan Singh, convened a public hearing, or ‘Janata Darbar,’ at the district collectorate to address the pressing issues of residents from various parts of the district. The administration pledged to take prompt action on the matters discussed. The darbar received applications covering critical areas such as the issuance of caste certificates, the recovery of a missing individual, Suraj Singh, from Maharashtra, the development of crucial infrastructure like road construction from Saldega Ambatoili to Bangru Tuyutoli, and tackling cases of female harassment. Other significant concerns included ensuring basic amenities like water and electricity for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, stopping illegal construction activities on private property, expediting death certificate issuance, correcting land records, and resolving complex land ownership disputes. Anita Kerketta shared her long-standing struggle to obtain a caste certificate due to historical land record discrepancies, impacting her educational and employment prospects. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Additional Collector and the Circle Officer of Kurdeg to investigate and resolve the matter expeditiously. Vimala Devi sought assistance for the safe return of Suraj Singh, who was reportedly working in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district. The Deputy Commissioner assured that all necessary steps would be taken. The hearing was well-attended by villagers and district officials, including Additional Collector Gyanendra.
