Asserting a unique diplomatic strategy, Donald Trump has once again credited his tariff policies for their effectiveness in preventing and halting wars. In a recent social media post, the former U.S. President highlighted the significant financial gains from tariffs, stating the nation was “taking in TRILLIONS of Dollars in Tariffs and Investment Dollars from foreign lands.”
Trump elaborated on his success, claiming, “I have stopped 5 of the eight WARS directly because of the threat of Tariffs if they don’t stop fighting or, better yet, if they start.” This bold assertion positions economic coercion as a cornerstone of his foreign policy achievements.
This statement revisits Trump’s prior assertions, including his claim that tariffs helped diffuse tensions between India and Pakistan, though India has not corroborated this account. His approach consistently emphasized economic leverage.
Separately, Trump has reportedly set a November 27 deadline for Ukraine to respond to a detailed peace proposal aimed at ending the war with Russia. This action follows President Zelenskyy’s comments on the difficult choices Ukraine faces. Trump indicated that progress in negotiations could lead to an extension of this deadline, viewing the date as a critical juncture for potential breakthroughs.
