
A cloud of sadness has descended upon India following the tragic death of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who lost his life when his Tejas fighter jet crashed during a spectacular display at the Dubai Air Show 2025. The bravery of the young officer has been recognized by many, including prominent figures from the Indian film industry.
Veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling Wing Commander Syal a “brave son of India.” In a poignant message, Haasan highlighted the pilot’s ultimate sacrifice while showcasing the pride of the Indian Air Force’s indigenous Tejas aircraft. His heartfelt condolences went out to the family.
Sonu Sood, known for his philanthropic work and acting career, also paid homage to Wing Commander Syal. He emphasized the pilot’s passion for flying and his dedication to the nation, stating that his courage and sacrifice would never be forgotten. The message concluded with a patriotic salute.
Suniel Shetty commented on the unfortunate event, expressing admiration for the service of all Indian armed forces personnel. He noted that investigations into the cause of the Tejas crash were in progress.
Numerous celebrities and athletes, including singer Adnan Sami, cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, and badminton star PV Sindhu, have offered their condolences. Wing Commander Syal’s body was repatriated to India on a special flight, and he was accorded a respectful guard of honour by the Emirati Defence Forces.
