The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune is on the radar for not one, but two Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises looking for alternative home venues in 2026. Following initial reports of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s interest, MCA Secretary Adv. Kamlesh Pisal has now confirmed that Rajasthan Royals (RR) have also explored the possibility of playing their home matches in Pune. RR representatives have reportedly conducted a site inspection and expressed a willingness to host a segment of their 2026 fixtures at the stadium. This move by RR is understood to be a consequence of ongoing disagreements with the Rajasthan Cricket Association. While RR also has Guwahati as a secondary home venue, Pune offers a strategically located option. The BCCI will ultimately decide on venue allocations for the IPL 2026 season, considering the growing interest from multiple teams.
