Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi has accused the Jharkhand government of fabricating new criminal incidents as a diversionary tactic to hide its alleged complicity in ongoing criminal activities. Marandi declared that the current administration and its associated systems in Jharkhand have adopted a strategy of inventing new crimes to cover up the real issues. The recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into the extensive coal black market in Dhanbad has uncovered critical evidence. What raises serious concern is the alleged instruction from ‘senior police officials,’ reportedly profiting from illegal coal revenue, to eliminate their ‘foot soldiers’ involved in the mafia’s operations to prevent any leaks. Reliable information suggests that individuals being questioned by the ED are now facing threats of assassination to ensure their silence and obstruct the investigation. The state has a history of staged ‘encounter killings’ presented as criminal apprehension. Past accusations against a Director General of Police involved contract killings and unprecedented corruption, even voiced by ruling party members. The ED is advised to be highly cautious, noting that in Jharkhand, suppressing the truth is rewarded over revealing it. When the pillars of governance, the legal framework, and organized crime converge, the subversion of justice becomes a predictable consequence.
