The vital Gaya Pul Underpass in Dhanbad is set for a significant transformation with its widening project, recently inspected by top officials. This initiative is anticipated to permanently resolve traffic issues for residents who have faced inconveniences for decades.
The target completion date for the underpass expansion is December 2026. However, efforts are underway to accelerate the work and potentially finish ahead of this schedule. The project demands close collaboration among numerous government bodies, encompassing water, electricity, roads, the city municipality, railway authorities, and telecommunications. Its strategic importance is amplified by the constant movement of major express trains across its path.
During the site visit, officials emphasized the need for seamless inter-departmental coordination. Each department was tasked with expediting their responsibilities to prevent any slowdowns in the widening process. A key development is the proposed creation of a utility corridor, designed to house essential services such as water pipelines, sewage systems, gas lines, and footpaths, ensuring integrated infrastructure management.
