The Telangana High Court has stepped in to prevent the invalidation of 1,032 appointments made through the TGPSC Group-II Services recruitment process. On Thursday, a division bench granted an interim stay on a single judge’s earlier decision to quash the selection list, which was finalized in October 2019. The successful candidates, including two currently serving as deputy tehsildars, appealed the order, arguing that setting aside long-standing appointments was unjust. The court found merit in their argument, especially noting that the entire body of 1,032 selected individuals were not part of the original petition. Key points raised by the appellants included claims of TGPSC’s compliance with recruitment protocols and the omission of relevant judicial precedents by the lower court. The bench has instructed all parties to file their counter-affidavits and has scheduled the next hearing to examine the case’s core issues in six weeks. The original legal battle stemmed from allegations of OMR sheet tampering, with petitioners claiming that candidates who altered their answer sheets were illegally appointed.
