India stands prepared to extend “all possible support” as the health of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has taken a critical turn. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his deep concern and offered prayers for her swift recovery. The 80-year-old chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is currently receiving treatment in a Dhaka hospital for a severe chest infection that has compromised her lungs and heart. BNP officials have stated her condition is dire, with reports of her being placed on a ventilator. The party is calling for widespread prayer and has confirmed that a team of local and foreign medical professionals is managing her care. Zia, a significant figure in Bangladeshi politics, has a history of multiple health complications, and her current critical state has prompted widespread concern and an offer of aid from India.
