A key AJSU Party legislator has taken to protesting at the Jharkhand Assembly gates, demanding swift action on overdue student scholarship payments. Nirmal Mahto, the MLA for Mandu and a central leader of the AJSU Party, initiated a dharna on Friday, bringing attention to the plight of tribal, Dalit, and backward class students awaiting their post-matric scholarships. Mahto stated that the AJSU student federation has been actively campaigning for these scholarship releases and recently submitted a formal request to the Governor. He highlighted the critical two-year gap in scholarship disbursements for students from these communities, asserting that the government’s inaction is causing severe hardship. Many students from low-income families are forced to juggle part-time jobs, compromising their academic focus. The MLA also alluded to the state’s dire financial condition, suggesting that the administration is struggling to fund its own projects, which is clearly impacting the allocation of essential student financial aid and creating a palpable sense of fiscal distress.
