This area has established a long-standing reputation for high-quality potato farming, achieving an estimated trade value of 200 crore rupees last year. Although current weather patterns have presented challenges, farmers are confidently projecting a trade exceeding 100 crore rupees for the ongoing season. The consistent demand for potatoes, a fundamental component in numerous culinary preparations, ensures a stable market. The distinctive taste and superior quality of Ichak-grown potatoes are highly valued, attracting buyers from across the country. Farmers are currently engaged in the crucial harvest phase, working tirelessly alongside hired labor to extract the crop. This period is marked by the expected arrival of numerous traders from key states including Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, eager to procure the local produce. Over 5,000 acres within Ichak’s 98 revenue villages are dedicated to potato cultivation, demonstrating the scale of farming operations.
