A significant reshuffle has occurred within Jharkhand’s police hierarchy, with five senior officers from the Jharkhand Police Service (JPS) now officially part of the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. The Union Home Ministry has ratified these promotions, a move that is set to energize the state’s law enforcement apparatus. In a related development, three additional officers have been included in a provisional list, pending clearance of certain legal and administrative prerequisites. The final approvals were granted on December 8, 2025, following a critical UPSC session, marking a new chapter for police leadership in Jharkhand.
The UPSC’s deliberations on November 10, 2025, were instrumental in charting the course for filling IPS vacancies for Jharkhand for the years 2022 and 2023. Representatives from the central government and the state administration were present. Following a thorough evaluation, the UPSC confirmed eight officers for IPS promotion. Five received immediate confirmation, while the remaining three are on a provisional basis.
The five officers promoted to the IPS are Deepak Kumar, Manzarul Hoda, Rajesh Kumar, Raushan Gudiya, and Shriram Samad. Their transition to the IPS cadre underscores their dedication and years of service. This elevation is expected to enhance the state’s policing capabilities, bringing in fresh perspectives and seasoned expertise to address the evolving security landscape of Jharkhand and improve public service delivery.
