A diplomatic episode involving Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has generated considerable discussion following his attendance at an international summit in Turkmenistan. According to available reports and video evidence, Sharif, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, was made to wait for an extended period of 40 minutes for a planned rendezvous with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a move that has been described by some as unexpected, the Prime Minister was subsequently seen entering the venue where Putin was in discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He remained in the room for a short duration. The incident took place at the International Forum for Peace and Trust in Ashgabat. This gathering, designed to commemorate Turkmenistan’s neutrality, included leaders from numerous countries. Online discourse surrounding the event has been critical, with many labeling the situation an awkward diplomatic moment. Separately, President Erdoğan and President Putin held significant discussions, including dialogues on the Ukraine conflict, and reaffirmed the strength and cooperative nature of Russia-Turkey relations, highlighting their ability to overcome external challenges.
