An alarming incident unfolded at Grizzly Vidyalaya in Koderma district, where a steam boiler in the laundry room exploded, resulting in injuries to five school employees. The injured were promptly taken to Care Hospital in Jhumritelaiya for treatment, with two individuals facing serious health complications. One of the injured staff members, Guddu Kumar Rajak, described the event as occurring while they were performing routine laundry tasks for student and teacher uniforms. On Wednesday, the steam boiler, utilized for ironing garments, unexpectedly burst.
The explosion exposed workers in the vicinity to scalding hot water. Some victims were thrown by the blast’s force, sustaining serious trauma. The laundry room was left in disarray. Fellow school personnel rushed to the scene upon hearing the explosion and transported the wounded to the hospital. The condition of two staff members remains a significant concern for medical professionals.
Concerns regarding the school administration’s oversight have been voiced by Guddu Rajak. He asserted that the boiler had been in a dilapidated state for a long time, and numerous appeals were made to the management. Despite these warnings, the decision was made to continue operating the boiler after repairs rather than replacing it with new equipment, a choice that led to this unfortunate event. Avinash Seth, representing the school, confirmed the occurrence and the number of injured. He noted that two employees are in critical condition, while the others are stable and being cared for. The identified injured are Guddu Rajak, Rajesh Singh (Laundry In-charge), Pramod Rajak, Gautam Rajak, and Rajesh Prasad, all hailing from Gaya, Bihar. The accident has sparked worry among parents, who are actively seeking information about the well-being of their children at the school.
