Chhattisgarh’s electoral landscape has seen a significant overhaul with the release of its draft voter lists. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has led to the removal of more than 2.7 million names, a move designed to purify the voter registry. The Election Commission emphasized that the SIR aims for the transparent inclusion of eligible voters and the exclusion of ineligible ones. The collected enumeration forms from 18,495,920 electors formed the basis for this revision. Notably, 642,234 deceased voters, 1,913,540 electors who have shifted or are no longer residing in their registered areas, and 179,043 individuals with multiple registrations were removed. This update is vital for ensuring fair and accurate elections.
