India’s premier all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, has achieved a landmark position in women’s T20 International cricket, officially becoming the highest wicket-taker in the format. This historic achievement was celebrated during the concluding T20I match against Sri Lanka, held in Thiruvananthapuram. Sharma, who was previously level with Australia’s Megan Schutt at 151 wickets, took the sole lead with her 152nd T20I dismissal. The pivotal moment occurred in the 14th over of the Sri Lankan innings when Nilakshika Silva was caught attempting a big shot. This wicket cemented Sharma’s status as a generational talent in T20 cricket. Her journey to this record is a testament to her sustained excellence and strategic bowling. In addition to her bowling records, Sharma has also showcased her all-round brilliance by becoming the first Indian to achieve the distinction of scoring 1,000 runs and taking 150 wickets in T20 Internationals, demonstrating her significant contribution to the Indian squad.
