Dhirendra Shastri, the prominent figure known as Bageshwar Dham, has directly addressed the controversy surrounding his recent travel to Chhattisgarh via a chartered aircraft. Speaking from a religious stage in Bhilai, Shastri emphasized his identity as an Indian citizen, suggesting that questions about his travel arrangements are misplaced. The debate erupted following his arrival for a religious event on December 25th, with accusations that a government aircraft facilitated his private journey, prompting criticism from the Congress party regarding the alleged misuse of state resources. Shastri, visibly addressing the situation, highlighted that the focus should not be on his mode of transport, especially as he is an Indian national. He voiced his concern over what he described as selective criticism, pointing out that individuals involved in harmful activities or financial irregularities often evade such public questioning. Shastri underscored his personal contributions, including promoting Sanatan Dharma, supporting medical facilities, assisting underprivileged girls with marriages, and working against substance abuse. He suggested that the current controversy distracts from these more significant societal contributions. While declining to comment further to avoid escalating the issue, Shastri conveyed a lack of resentment towards his detractors and expressed gratitude to his supporters, acknowledging the significant role of media in shaping public perception.
