The incident occurred when the victim clicked on an online advertisement. Subsequently, the victim’s mobile was hacked, and credit card details were stolen. The victim was contacted by someone posing as a customer service representative, who sent a malicious link. The cybercriminals gained access to the engineer’s phone and used his credit card information to make fraudulent transactions.
