The mid-size SUV segment is gearing up for a wave of new entrants in the coming years. Responding to the popularity of this vehicle class, several car manufacturers are preparing to launch new models designed to compete with the Hyundai Creta, a car that has dominated the segment for a decade.
In 2026, Tata Motors, Kia, and Renault plan to release new mid-size SUVs. The Tata Sierra will join the existing Curvv model. Renault will relaunch with a new generation Duster. Kia will launch a second-generation Seltos, given the current model’s long tenure and subsequent updates. Here is more information.
Tata Sierra
The Tata Sierra will launch in early 2026 with a new look and will initially be offered as an electric vehicle. It will have two battery options and a claimed range of over 500 km on a single charge. An ICE variant will follow and feature a 1.5-liter turbo petrol and a 2.0-liter diesel engine.
New-Gen Kia Seltos
The second-generation Seltos, spotted in testing several times, is expected to arrive at dealerships in the first half of 2026. It will feature cosmetic changes and a new interior. The exterior will have new headlights, DRLs, bumpers, tail lamps, and alloy wheels, with updated features in the cabin.
New Renault Duster
The Duster nameplate will return early next year based on the new global Duster. It will be built on the CMF-B architecture, and a Nissan variant will also be launched. At least two petrol engines are anticipated, with a hybrid engine potentially arriving later.
