Citroen has entered the Indian market with the C3X SUV, designed to challenge competitors like the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. With a starting price of ₹7.91 lakh (ex-showroom), the C3X aims to boost Citroen’s sales. The car builds upon the Citroen C3 platform, but features expanded amenities and is marketed as an SUV, in contrast to the C3’s hatchback-with-a-twist designation.
The C3X offers a range of variants, with the naturally aspirated manual starting at ₹7.91 lakh ex-showroom and the turbo automatic reaching up to ₹9.89 lakh ex-showroom. A HALO 360-degree camera system is available as a paid option. Bookings are currently open, with deliveries scheduled to commence in early September 2025. This new SUV is poised to compete with models such as the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Fronx in the Indian automotive landscape.
The C3X provides two petrol engine choices: a 1.2-liter PureTech 82 naturally aspirated engine combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.2-liter PureTech 110 turbocharged engine available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Citroen claims the turbocharged variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds, delivering a fuel efficiency of up to 19.3 km/liter.
The C3X prioritizes safety with features like 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, TPMS, a high-speed alert system, and a parametric alarm. It also features the Citroen Advanced Comfort Suspension, specially tuned for Indian road conditions, designed to provide a smooth and comfortable ride.
The C3X distinguishes itself with 15 additional features compared to the standard C3. These include passive entry with proxy sensors, a push start system, segment-first hands-free access, cruise control with a speed limiter, the HALO 360-degree camera system, an auto-dimming IRVM, LED projector headlamps, LED projector fog lamps, LED DRLs, and LED interior lighting. Inside, the car features a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a tropicalized automatic AC system designed for Indian summers. A rear USB Type-C charging port and a 315-liter boot space enhance the vehicle’s practicality.
