Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and flagged off the export of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The e-Vitara is slated for distribution in over 100 countries. First unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in India in January 2025, the e-Vitara is a key part of Suzuki’s global strategy. The company, with an annual production capacity of 2.6 million units spread across four Indian plants, exported over 3.32 lakh vehicles and achieved domestic sales of 19.01 lakh units in FY25. The e-Vitara will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric in the electric SUV segment. The e-Vitara offers a rear-wheel-drive option in some trims, a feature absent in the Hyundai Creta. It is reported that the e-Vitara will be equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack, with all-wheel-drive functionality available on the Empowered trim. The vehicle will also include a 12.3-inch freestanding screen and ADAS Level 2 safety systems. The e-Vitara boasts ventilated seats, adaptable boot space, and other contemporary features. The e-Vitara uses the HEARTECT-e platform specifically designed for EVs, and is powered by a 61 kWh Lithium-ion battery, tested in extreme temperatures from -30 °C to 60 °C, providing an estimated range of about 500 km. The table provides details on expected pricing.
