Kinetic, a brand synonymous with gearless scooters, may be preparing to re-enter the market with an electric vehicle (EV) version of its iconic two-wheeler. The original Kinetic scooter, a joint project between Kinetic Engineering Limited and Honda Motor Company, used a 98cc 2-stroke engine. This engine delivered approximately 7.7 hp and a max torque figure of 1.0 KGm, with a fuel efficiency of 40 kmpl.
Reports indicate that Kinetic is planning a comeback in the EV sector, supported by Kinetic Green and Kinetic Watts and Volts. Kinetic Watts has patented a new electric scooter, hinting at the revival of the classic scooter as an EV. The upcoming EV scooter is set to compete with established players like Hero, Ather, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ola S1. The design is expected to incorporate the design elements of the Kinetic Honda ZX, maintaining its familiar silhouette, including the angular headlight and squarish ORVMs, along with a spacious floorboard. To bolster production, Kinetic has established a manufacturing unit in Ahilya Nagar, Maharashtra, positioning itself to capitalize on the expanding electric scooter market.
