Renault India is set to introduce an EV hatchback as part of a product lineup overhaul. The new EV, believed to be the Kwid EV, has been spotted in testing phases. These sightings, occurring in Tamil Nadu, suggest that the vehicle is being tested in locations where Renault and Nissan operate. The spotted model bears a resemblance to the Dacia Spring EV, available internationally. If the Dacia Spring is rebadged and sold in India as the Kwid, it may be equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery pack, providing a range of approximately 220 km. Alternatively, Renault might launch an Indian-specific version with components manufactured locally for better cost management. Recent sightings show the EV with minimal camouflage, revealing features such as the rear lights, rear wiper, and steel wheels. The Dacia Spring offers various battery and powertrain options. Depending on the variant, the car might come with either a 44 BHP or a 64 BHP electric motor. Charging times and range vary based on the configuration. The possibility of an ICE version is also under consideration, considering the popularity of the previous Kwid.
