
Tesla’s Model Y is now being delivered in India. Siddharth Jain, Executive Director of the INOX Group, has become the first Indian industrialist to own the electric vehicle. Jain shared his excitement on X, where he tagged Elon Musk.
In his social media post, Jain wrote, “This ones for you @ElonMusk!!! I am beyond thrilled to receive India Inc’s 1st @Tesla ! I have been waiting for this precious moment ever since I visited the Tesla Fremont factory in 2017! Dreams do come true!” Elon Musk replied with a congratulatory message.
Tesla is increasing its presence in India, starting with its first showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex on July 15, 2025. A second showroom opened in Delhi’s Aerocity on August 11. The company’s focus is the premium electric car segment, with initial deliveries in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Gurugram.
The Tesla Model Y is being imported into India as a CBU. The starting price is ₹59.89 lakh, with the long-range variant starting from this amount. Bookings are being accepted on the official website.
The Model Y is available with two battery options:
* 60 kWh battery: Offers a range of approximately 500 km (WLTP certified) on a single charge.
* 75 kWh battery (Long Range variant): Provides a range of approximately 622 km.
The car includes an autonomous driving feature, available for an additional ₹6 lakh. The Tesla Model Y features premium features, safety tech, and all-electric performance.
