The automotive sector in India is experiencing positive changes for consumers following the introduction of GST 2.0. The reduction in vehicle taxes has resulted in price cuts by car manufacturers, with the mid-size SUV segment being significantly affected. This has made the vehicles more appealing to consumers.
The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have always been in direct competition in the SUV segment. However, the Seltos has gained an edge after the GST rate cuts. While the Creta offers savings of up to approximately Rs 72,145, the Kia Seltos sees a price reduction of up to Rs 75,371. This makes the Seltos not only more affordable but also a direct rival to the Creta. Price cuts are specifically for the 1.5L Normal Petrol-Manual variant.
The new price list issued by the company indicates that the ex-showroom prices for the Kia Seltos now start from Rs 10.79 lakh. All variants have direct savings ranging from Rs 39,624 to Rs 75,371.
The base variant (HTE) has seen a reduction of approximately Rs 40,000.
Mid-spec variants (HTX, GTX) are seeing benefits of up to Rs 50,000.
Top-spec variants (X Line) have the largest cuts, with customers saving over Rs 75,000. Specifically referring to the 1.5L Normal Petrol-Auto (CVT) variant.
This is an important development for middle-class customers looking to buy SUVs. Receiving the same robust features and stylish design at a reduced price is attracting more people. Specifically, those customers who were unsure between the Creta and Seltos may now lean towards the Seltos, as it presents a greater value proposition at a lower price point.
