Numerous car models have become more affordable because of the GST 2.0 reforms implemented by the government. One of the most eagerly awaited price cuts was for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The Dzire stands out as a top-selling passenger car in the sub-4 meter category, frequently competing with the Hyundai Creta in sales. The price of the car has been slashed by nearly ₹80,000 due to modifications in the tax structure under GST.
The new tax rates have resulted in reduced prices across all car categories. For instance, hatchback cars are saving around ₹40,000, while the advantages for premium luxury SUVs are remarkable, reaching up to ₹30 lakh. Experts in the automotive industry are describing these tax reforms as the most significant price cuts in the Indian automotive industry’s history.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire benefits the most, with reductions of up to ₹88,000. The ZXI Plus top variant is the most favored. This trend is also observed in the Maruti Swift hatchback, with top-spec variants receiving the largest GST price reductions, unlike other hatchbacks from the company. The total price reduction for the Dzire ranges from ₹58,000 to ₹88,000, depending on the variant. It is available in both manual and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) options. AMT variants see price cuts between ₹72,000 and ₹88,000.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire features significant updates in design and features. It has a new Z-series 1.2-liter naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the previous 4-cylinder engine. This car has earned a five-star safety rating in both Global NCAP (GNCAP) and Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) evaluations.
The Dzire is also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit that works in tandem with the petrol engine. While it’s already popular in the taxi segment, upgrades and the GST rate cuts are expected to drive up demand among private buyers, too. Sales are expected to increase further with the introduction of festive season offers.
