If you’re thinking of buying a new hatchback, especially one under Rs 10 Lakh, you might want to hold off for a little while. Several new cars are expected to launch soon, including upgrades and all-new models.
Maruti Suzuki is planning a hybrid version of the Fronx. This could be a great choice for those looking at the CNG versions of the Baleno, Fronx, or Swift. Hyundai is also getting ready to launch a new compact crossover hybrid, the Bayon. It will have a new 1.2-liter Kappa engine, which will be key for Hyundai’s hybrid cars in India. This engine will slot between the 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo petrol engines.
Maruti Suzuki is also working on a new 5-seater SUV, possibly called the Escudo. It will be positioned between the Vitara Brezza and Grand Vitara, competing with cars like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. The Escudo aims to offer a more premium feel than the Vitara Brezza but at a price point lower than the Grand Vitara. It might use the existing 1.5cc, four-cylinder engine with hybrid technology.
Renault India is planning to update its lineup. Alongside the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger, the company is preparing to launch a new Duster and an electric hatchback. The electric Kwid, similar to the Dacia Spring EV sold elsewhere, has been seen in testing.
