Honda, a leading global two-wheeler manufacturer, has launched its first electric motorcycle, the WN7, in Europe. The model name, WN7, reflects the design philosophy, with ‘W’ representing ‘Become Wind’, ‘N’ for ‘Naked’ (referring to its streetfighter style), and ‘7’ denoting its output category. The WN7, inspired by the EV Fun concept presented at EICMA 2024, is equipped with a fixed lithium-ion battery that provides a range exceeding 130 kilometers. A significant advantage of the WN7 is its fast-charging ability; it can charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes using a CCS2 fast charger, while a full charge at home takes less than three hours. Honda asserts that the WN7 provides power equivalent to a 600cc gasoline motorcycle and torque comparable to a 1000cc bike. Its smooth operation and instant acceleration aim to deliver a new experience for electric motorcycle enthusiasts. The WN7’s design is characterized by an electric vehicle aesthetic, setting it apart from Honda’s current internal combustion engine (ICE) models. The bike includes a 5-inch TFT screen integrated into the dashboard, offering smartphone connectivity through Honda RoadSync for navigation, music, and call notifications. The WN7 introduction is part of Honda’s larger sustainability goals, including carbon neutrality for all motorbikes by 2040 and full carbon neutrality by 2050.
