Honda has filed a new patent for an updated version of the Honda Scoopy scooter, leading to questions about whether it could be launched in India. While Honda patents various vehicles for intellectual property rights protection, some of these patented models are later introduced to the market. The updated Scoopy features design changes, including a new front fascia, a round LED headlight with daytime running lights, and a full LCD instrument cluster displaying information such as eco-driving status, fuel consumption, and service reminders. The international version of the scooter is powered by a 109.5cc air-cooled engine generating roughly 9 horsepower and 9.2 Nm of torque, coupled with a CVT transmission. This engine is also used in the Honda Dio and Activa models sold in India. However, it has been reported that Honda patents most of its global products in India solely for IPR purposes, and they would never be launched here. The Scoopy is sold in Southeast Asian markets.
