To stay ahead in the competitive automotive landscape, Honda is strategically investing in diverse energy platforms. This move enables the brand to adapt quickly to changing market dynamics, particularly the rising popularity of hybrid vehicles. Honda plans to introduce a new multi-level Energy platform, following the lead of other manufacturers such as Mahindra, Volkswagen, and Skoda. The upcoming Honda hybrid cars will be built on the PF2 modular platform. This adaptable platform is designed to support various powertrains, including hybrids, ICE, and EVs, for Honda’s small and medium-sized vehicles intended for domestic and international markets. Honda intends to achieve a high degree of local production to keep prices competitive, with the new vehicles anticipated to be priced within the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh range. The first model utilizing the PF2 platform will be a new three-row SUV, scheduled for launch by 2027. It will be positioned above the Elevate and will compete with models such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari. The second-generation models based on the PF2 platform will include a sixth-generation City e-Sedan. The City e-Sedan will be offered with both petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options, with an expected launch in 2028. Honda is also working on a new SUV based on the PF2 platform, possibly powered by the Elevate’s 1.5-liter Petrol Engine.
