An incident on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru saw a passenger ‘traveling’ inside the aircraft’s lavatory for the entire duration. The passenger was trapped after the restroom door malfunctioned and locked mid-flight. SpiceJet has offered a refund and issued an apology for the ordeal.
The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM, took off at 2:10 AM from Mumbai. The passenger, seated in seat 14D, entered the lavatory shortly after takeoff. The door jammed, preventing the passenger from exiting. The crew tried to fix the door without success.
To ease the passenger’s distress, the crew passed a note under the door, asking the passenger to stay calm and remain seated in the toilet until landing. The note quickly circulated on social media. The plane landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, and ground staff eventually opened the door. The airline has since expressed its regret.
