KTM is expanding its motorcycle range with a new 500cc twin-cylinder platform designed for adventure and naked bikes. A faired RC model has also been seen in testing. The new twin-cylinder RC might feature an engine from CF Moto, as indicated by reports. While the Duke 500 and the adventure bike were prototypes, the RC seems closer to entering production. Newly released images from Motorrad magazine reveal a nearly finalized design. The KTM RC 490 appears to use an engine and chassis sourced from CFMoto. The fairing hides much of the engine, but the exhaust downpipes are consistent with CFMoto models. The parallel-twin design differs from that of the other KTM prototypes, leading to speculation that this model could be the KTM RC 490. It is likely that this bike is based on the CFMoto platform, and is unrelated to the other two KTM models. The current KTM RC 390 uses an older 373cc engine, so KTM could be seeking a new engine for the next-generation RC. These assumptions are based on observations of the new sports bike during testing.
