KTM is expanding its lineup with a new 500cc twin-cylinder engine, with both adventure and naked bike models in development. A faired RC version has been seen in testing. Reports suggest that the new RC model might utilize an engine from CFMoto. The fully faired design of the bike conceals much of the engine, but the exhaust downpipes are similar to those found on CFMoto models. The engine layout appears different from previously seen KTM prototypes. There is a strong possibility that this model will be called the KTM RC 490. The older engine in the current RC 390 could be replaced by a newer power plant.
